Welcome to the Secondary School of Miras International School, Astana!

The Secondary School offers a unique educational programme which combines the Kazakhstani National Curriculum (for local students) with that of the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma programme (DP) of the International Baccalaureate. Overseas students will only follow the MYP and DP programmes.

Our holistic curriculum is based on the development of critical thinking skills and service to others. We want our students to recognize their potential, prepare their futures for leadership opportunities and to caring for others whether it be in the local community or wider global scene.

We have designed an innovative curriculum in which students have the opportunity to experience academic rigour combined with an appreciation of the arts and health education. We value teamwork and hence, students are able to participate in a number of service for action activities and develop personal projects which enhance their research skills. Students are able to study a range of subjects in English and Russian and those from the local community will also study the Kazakh language. In the high school students choosing to follow the Diploma Programme will (with the exception of their second language option) study their subjects in English.

Increasingly we see more of our students continuing their higher education overseas and we have developed close links to universities not only in Kazakhstan but also Canada, the USA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

Miras International School, Astana, is a dynamic, welcoming school and I am delighted to be returning to and working with a staff who put the students’ welfare and achievements first.

Stephen Butlin,
Secondary School Principal.
